An Enlightened Society

We must journey through life in America with much of our humanity to be developed. It would be time to evolve as people. Ok, we can try to do better. We must, of course, learn tolerance. I think we are on our way yet the elements move slowly.
If we look at history what we see is a bloody past with war, strife, famine, exploitation, slavery, and other atrocities.

If we understand the WWI generation, they could be very racist, as it would seem. There values where different. No matter, many people of varied races did not believe in interracial relationships. The thought that everyone should be in their place.

As times change, and the Civil Rights movement fostered, there was a new relation with people and a new tolerance. This was not perfect, and still isn’t but times have changed.

It is a shame that in today’s world, elements of values have not changed, and yet they have. In certain ways we in the 1060’ss and 1970’s would initiate peace, love and understanding. Kinship among all people. The milk of human kindness was to one day spread.

Naive a this seems there was a call for a greater humanity. That has died a little.

With the “Greed Movement” of the 1980’s, yuppies sent a message that pursuit of materialism and money made life meaningful. Conservative values of money being important and some time making people the value of their wallet. Thus sprang the culture of ignorance.

Both sides now yelling at each other, with no open conversations.with much propaganda and conformity started to rule a few people. Yet there are many who still stick to their beliefs of humanity. The old way can be the better way, remember the world of solidarity and kinship has never disappeared. Just that it was, a little snowed over, but something about it worked.

A better society knows forgiveness and moves forward. A better society finds real solutions instead of expedient ones. In this era, people my age feel the disillusion Both sides of the highway are responsible.

Yet, voices cry out for sense and reason. Bitterness, and resentment of the past won’t deliver the future. Look back has lessons, now is time to plan, looking forward will give us a better future.

Today to many enter conflict, and harsh attitudes, misinformation seems to be the order of the day. Today’s radicals have failed. Yesterdays radicals had better answers.

We had a respect of the elderly for a source of wisdom and experience. There was mutual interests in a better world. Now that is gone. Not completely. Removing hate, resentment, and conflict is a much better way to develop a society. Solutions such as Sustainability, Civic Participation, mutually beneficial goals that all can share and learn to have Compassion, and friendship among us. This we have to attack and win the element will not get us there.

The Liberal and Conservative social policies of the past didn’t work either. There is nothing worse than a half baked cake. And everything to them progressiveness is pie in the sky.

Everyone has wants and needs, great equality needs to become a serious matter. The world is filled with corruption and violence. It is filled with cheating and disrespect.

The values of past generations must change preserving the ones that work. Telling he truth is tough because the truth is hard to swallow. Our needs should be measured with our wants and remember to be inclusive in policy to everyone who is waiting for something better.

One day the divides will be different, and barely noticeable. it is not easy, there is so much about who we are and our diversity and how we go about life.

In the Elephant Journal I found this: Enlightened Society, Politics, Active Citizenship, Social Good. The leading a mindful life.

The Social good is for everyone. Remember Gross National Happiness? That needs to be examined and implemented.

We embrace that political aspects of a democratic society are freedom of speech, right to equality, right to be heard etc. Economical aspects of a democratic society are right to livelihood, right to profession, right to form an enterprise etc. Cultural aspects of democratic society are right to possess any religion, religious freedom, and right to a Universal Income.
