Political Identifying

I started disliking Liberalism and Socialism in the 70’s and 80’s. I liked socialism let me say, but started hating other Socialists. This started when a friend came up to me and said, “Whites should feel guilty for enslaving blacks. We should sacrifice for them.”

I said, “When my family came here from Europe, they worked in Dye houses, what slave could they afford to own.”

The I had Democrats at the Dem club romanticize poverty, and came other fantasies.

Poverty is not fun I told him.  Thusly, there was this issue of White Privileged. No doubt, the Whites who enslaved blacks, never took responsibility for that slavery, it fell on the Middle Class.

Identity politics, also called identitarian politics, refers to political positions based on the interests and perspectives of social groups with which people identify. Identity politics includes the ways in which people’s politics may be shaped by aspects of their identity through loosely correlated social organizations. Examples include social organizations based on age, social class, culture, dialect, disability, education, ethnicity, language, nationality, gender identity, generation, occupation, profession, race, religion, sexual orientation, settlement, urban and rural habitation, and veteran status. Not all members of any given group are involved in identity politics.

Both Republicans and Democrats use Identity politics as a weapon. The Left is even more guilty at it at times.

I have spoken about the troubles of Italian Americans and people would say, “Maybe you could get a job with your God Father in Construction and make 600 bucks a week.”

Once on WPIX there was an instant of Anti Italian discrimination. I told people in  the Socialist Party USA and they ignored it.

White Privileged is another label. Sure between 1940’s and 1980s there was a lot of White Privileged.  But Whites are the majority, whites where in Industrial Cities more frequently,

Whites worked long hours and fought many labor disputes. Not that Blacks didn’t. Vito Marcantonio was a great example that he represented all people of all parts of the globe in NYCs 116 th St.

White Privileged exists because multitudes of Whites are Billionaires and run the world. But Eugene V Debs said after meeting rich people, “What happened to blacks is the worse atrocity, but the class war embraces everyone.”

The New Left forgot this and moved into competing interest groups, which is why the ALP/ISP is a Equality Party. We don’t entertain the divisiveness politics of the Left, but the Solidarity politics of the past Socialists.

Political Correctness was practiced by the Left, yet there is also PC in The Right. These elements distract people from reality and solidarity. It is like Political Stereo Typing.

Coming out of irrational politics: Groupthink, This  is a psychological phenomenon that occurs within a group of people in which the desire for harmony or conformity in the group results in an irrational or dysfunctional decision-making outcome. Group members try to minimize conflict and reach a consensus decision without critical evaluation of alternative viewpoints by actively suppressing dissenting viewpoints, and by isolating themselves from outside influences.

The Socialist Party USA depends on this at conventions, which are not democratic.

Groupthink requires individuals to avoid raising controversial issues or alternative solutions, and there is loss of individual creativity, uniqueness and independent thinking. The dysfunctional group dynamics of the “ingroup” produces an “illusion of invulnerability” (an inflated certainty that the right decision has been made). Thus the “ingroup” significantly overrates its own abilities in decision-making and significantly underrates the abilities of its opponents (the “outgroup”). Furthermore, groupthink can produce dehumanizing actions against the “outgroup”.

The Democrats have in many ways become the “alternative” big business party. Within the two-party system, their role has been to capture anger at the Republicans. To do that, they developed a more left-wing populist ideology. This led to them building a base of support among labor unions, broad sections of workers and the poor, and those fighting against injustice and discrimination based on gender, race, or sexual orientation. As part of this, they courted leaders of the civil rights, women’s rights, and environmental movements in the 1960s and 1970s.

This two-party system of big business has allowed the U.S. ruling elite to maintain political power despite being a tiny minority in society. Today, the top 1% of U.S. society has so much power and wealth, it constitutes a ruling class of this country. In reality, a much smaller elite, a few hundred families, has the dominating share of this 1%.

All these demolish solidarity among people. Rather than profiling according to race, gender, and more. Let us realize we all suffer and we are in the struggle together.
