The term “Organic Food” is complete nonsense. Why? Man, plants, and animals are organic in the first place and that is what food itself i suppose to be. No doubt there is a war on food. GMOs are also in supposed health foods. Even packaging is harmful. Big Plastic and Whole Foods Super Market has manipulated the law not to enforce laws and hide the fact plastic containers are contaminated. Monsanto and DOW spend $20,000,000 in each state to defeat GMO labeling laws.

In simplest terms, sustainable agriculture is the production of food, fiber, or other plant or animal products using farming techniques that protect the environment, public health, human communities, and animal welfare. This form of agriculture enables us to produce healthful food without compromising future generations’ ability to do the same.

Sustainable farms produce crops and raise animals without relying on toxic chemical pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, genetically modified seeds, Geo or practices that degrade soil, water, or other natural resources. By growing a variety of plants and using techniques such as crop rotation, conservation tillage, and pasture-based livestock husbandry,sustainable farms protect biodiversity and foster the development and maintenance of healthy ecosystems.

What grows where and how it is grown are a matter of choice. Two of the many possible practices of sustainable agriculture are crop rotation and both designed to ensure that crops being cultivated can obtain the necessary; nutrients for healthy growth. Soil amendments would include using locally available compost from community recycling centers. These community recycling centers help produce the compost needed by the local organic farms.
Many scientists, farmers, and businesses have debated how to make agriculture sustainable. Using community recycling from yard and kitchen waste utilizes a local area’s commonly available resources. These resources in the past were thrown away into large waste disposal sites, are now used to produce low cost organic compost for organic farming. Other practices includes growing a diverse number of perennial crops in a single field, each of which would grow in separate season so as not to compete with each other for natural resources. This system would result in increased resistance to diseases and decreased effects of erosion and loss of nutrients in soil. Nitrogen fixation from legumes, for example, used in conjunction with plants that rely on nitrate from soil for growth, helps to allow the land to be reused annually. Legumes will grow for a season and replenish the soil with ammonium and nitrate, and the next season other plants can be seeded and grown in the field in preparation for harvest.
Many pesticides have been replaced, flowers insects like are used because the insects prefer flowers over fruit and vegetables. Some pesticides are made from completely natural substances and are animal and human safe.
Sustainable farmers and ranchers treat animals with care and respect, implementing livestock husbandry practices that protect animals’ health and wellbeing. By raising livestock on pasture, these farmers enable their animals to move freely, engage in instinctive behaviors, consume a natural diet, and avoid the stress and illness associated with confinement.
The majority of meat, eggs, and dairy products are now produced on enormous industrial livestock facilities. Also known as factory farms or CAFOs (concentrated animal feeding operations, these facilities confine thousands (and, in some cases, hundreds of thousands) of animals in cramped conditions without access to the outdoors.
