Long Mean Season

To me since the 1980’s the world has gone into a funk of conservative ignorance. With in context in world History, there where notions of world peace, where Enlightened Societies was suppose to take place. That life would become more enlightened and humane Since the Reagan administration there was and still is a Long Mean Season of contempt for the poor and working class.
The Age of Enlightenment (or simply the Enlightenment or Age of Reason) was a cultural movement of intellectuals in the 17th and 18th centuries, which began first in Europe and later in the American colonies. Its purpose was to reform society using reason, challenge ideas grounded in tradition and faith, and advance knowledge through the scientific method. It promoted scientific thought, skepticism and intellectual interchange and opposed superstition .
During the Enlightenment there was a great emphasis upon liberty, democracy, republicanism and religious tolerance. Attempts to reconcile science and religion resulted in a widespread rejection of prophecy, miracle and revealed religion in preference for Deism – especially by Thomas Paine in “The Age of Reason”
A friend of mine calls Star Trek a Socialist pipe dream, yet, tar Trek and Philosophy does an excellent job of blending the themes of academia with the themes of ethics, to understanding time, to autonomy and theories of the Liberty. Particular interest is ethics set in the context of the Ferengi’s selfish capitalist-like system and the Federation’s elimination of poverty .
“Time of Awakening” a Vulcan schism of those who “sought a return to savage ways” and “marched beneath the raptor’s wings” (later the symbol of the Romulan people) perpetrate a cataclysmic nuclear attack upon Surak and his enlightened society.
he “Time of Awakening” and its “ironic violence” noted by Surak, which ends in nuclear holocaust but philosophical maturity, was written by Star Trek creators with intentional parallels to modern human society—particularly its historical progression toward cultural enlightenment, reason and tolerance interrupted by extreme conservative bouts of cultural regression, irrational ism and fanatical violence.
A vast majority of humanists of all political groups have socially liberal views on abortion, human rights, birth control and a view that the government must remain separate from religion, and must uphold civil rights, human rights and other civil liberties.
In today’s world we have work place hostility by bosses and employees alike. No solidarity. A Contempt for open minded points of views and ideas and solutions never explored. Horrible education and lack of opportunities. The hope, dreams, and aspirations embellished by apathy toward others and selfish attitudes.
French Prime Minister Hollande says Europe should be about hope. So should the rest of the world.
South America is emerging as many Nations choose a better Democracy.
Conservatives also vilify liberals and socialists for “destroying the American way of life” because of their concern for people. The point I’m trying to make is that Humanism dose not dictate economic policy, it is up to the individual to decide how best to be altruistic. It is my hope that atheists and humanists stop fighting over their views too much and learn to understand opposing political views without accepting them.
America lives in dark times where money rules and subtle slaveries exist. Where people are shallow, materialistic, and lack commiseration for others. America used to root for the underdog, and now kicks the underdog in the teeth.
Greed, hate, and ignorance hallmark our values in a cold cruel world. In Denmark People can feel socially secure in Denmark—at least for now. People don’t get rich from welfare but they can live a comfortable life. Practically all people are eligible for one program or another.  Though Denmark in known for its open mindedness, enlightenment, and way of life to be envied by those who live under the dark c.loud of Conservative ignorance. Europe will introduce a installation of the Universal Income by 2014. America will still suffer.
